As the co-founder and CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey stated that Bitcoin would be a key component of the firm since it is a good candidate for the internet’s native currency.
Many people know Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey as a cryptocurrency enthusiast, so it’s no surprise that he’s been thinking about how to best integrate cryptocurrencies into one of the most popular social media platforms for some time.
During a conference call on Twitter’s second-quarter earnings, Jack Dorsey disclosed more about Bitcoin’s plans.
Jack began by stating that Bitcoin will be a “significant part” of the company’s future because BTC is the best option for becoming the internet’s native currency. According to Twitter’s founder, this would primarily mean that people and businesses can freely exchange products and services everywhere on the earth.
Jack Dorsey said:
- If the internet has a native currency, a global currency, we are able to move so much faster with products such as Super Follows, Commerce, Subscriptions, Tip Jar, and we can reach every single person on the planet because of that instead of going down a market-by-market-by-market approach.
According to the Twitter CEO, BTC is a key part of the future, as Twitter and other social media platforms are already thinking about decentralization. Furthermore, Twitter and its stockholders recognize the industry’s value and are investing heavily in it.
Dorsey says that, in addition to Twitter, there is another behemoth, Facebook, which has been working on its crypto project Diem, dubbed Libra by many.
