Qatar Airways, Qatar’s state-owned flag carrier, is planning to update its QVerse metaverse platform with new features. In the virtual reality (VR) platform, the popular Middle Eastern airline wants to combine NFTs, ticket sales, and new areas to explore.

A spokesman for the airline just confirmed this. QVerse may be accessible through other metaverse platforms in the future, such as Decentraland or Sandbox, and explored using the Oculus Quest VR platform, according to the business.

The strategy is founded on the company’s idea that the metaverse is the way of the future for human interaction. Qatar Airways thinks that by challenging the most basic procedures that were formerly constrained, the metaverse will empower humans, extend their horizons, and break their limits.

The QVerse platform was initially released in April of this year. Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, one of the most powerful 3D development tools, was used to construct the platform. Customers may now enjoy a virtual tour of the airline’s luxury check-in area and the cabin inside of the airline’s aircraft at Hamad International Airport (HIA).

A MetaHuman tutorial is also available on the platform. Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, indicated at the time of its introduction that the airline was thrilled to adopt a technology that allows passengers to have a truly immersive experience of its products and services.

The metaverse market is quickly growing

Qatar Airways is the first airline to make use of the metaverse phenomenon. For a long time, though, it may not be the sole aviation industry participant in the metaverse. The United States Air Force has submitted a trademark application for the term “SpaceVerse” for use in metaverse-related goods and services.

Meanwhile, the metaverse business is fast expanding. A market research and consulting services firm, the metaverse industry is predicted to exceed $1.5 trillion by 2030, according to P&S Intelligence, a market research and consulting services firm.

Many new businesses are entering the market. Some companies, such as Facebook, have made it the center of their operations. Facebook recently rebranded to Meta (NASDAQ: META) to become a comprehensive metaverse corporation.
