  • Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, has stated that NFTs would be included in Instagram.
  • On March 15, 2022, the news was made during a meeting with Shark Tank’s Daymond John at the SXSW conference.
  • Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri also revealed that the site was looking into NFTs.
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Meta, revealed on March 15 at the SXSW conference that his business wants to integrate NFTs on Instagram in the “near term.” Zuckerberg, on the other hand, did not go into greater detail.

In addition, once the Instagram team sorted out some of the technical problems, Zuckerberg described the inclusion of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) into the photo and video sharing app as “on the way.”

During his meeting with Daymond John of Shark Tank, Zuckerberg said:

We are working on bringing NFTs to Instagram in the near term; I’m not ready to announce exactly what that’s going to be today, but, over the next several months, the ability to bring some of your NFTs in, and hopefully over time be able to mint things within that environment.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri acknowledged in December 2021 that the site was looking into NFTs. Similarly, the business wants to make the technology more accessible to a larger audience. In an Instagram post, Mosseri said, “I think it’s an interesting place that we can play and also to help creators hopefully.

Instagram’s interest in NFTs also aligns with Meta’s larger goal of creating a virtual world populated with digital products. “I’m hoping that the apparel that your avatar wears in the Metaverse can be minted as an NFT so that you can carry it about with you,” Zuckerberg remarked.

Meanwhile, anybody following Meta’s ambitions will be familiar with the company’s NFT goals. However, for some artists who are wary of the technology, the incorporation of NFTs may be too much to bear.
